Results or Excuses. You Choose

How often do we question our choices? It’s easy to choose the easier choice of relaxing in front of our TV’s, fry our brains scrolling through social media, or simply stuff ourselves with greasy food before having the need to pass out from exhaustion and food coma.

At the end of a busy work day, the last thing on our minds is having the energy to work out at the gym. Let alone at home. Our minds begin to try and reason with itself to make up justifiable excuses. Once one has come into mind that slightly seems reasonable; we give in. It chooses the easiest option because we lack the motivation or discipline to stay in routine and accomplish the daily tasks of taking care of our physical and mental health. Sure, some of us end up reading on current events, a new novel, or watch tutorial videos on hobbies or new skills we could master.

The examples above are reasonable in my mind, but it doesn’t mean you can’t multi-task by accomplishing any of the three while on the treadmill or spin bike. Utilizing the remaining time of the day for self-improvement is a more efficient way to spend your valuable time.

“I can accept failure, but I can’t accept not trying.” - Michael Jordan

Regardless of the excuse we choose to abide with, does it get us closer to the results we’ve been wanting? If you’re in sales, will you get the sales you need to succeed and pay for your bills by listening to your excuses and putting off cold calling or lead generating? If you have a home project that you are working on yourself, will it miraculously finish on its own by sitting in front of the TV every night or going out on the weekends? Obviously not! But we could dream right!?

Ask yourself, if what you are doing now bringing you closer to where you want to be.

The decisions and actions that you take today, will define the outcome. If you are wanting the results you’ve always wanted, but have been struggling year after year to achieve them, then we need to work on going out of your norm. Sometimes things need to get ugly before they can be beautiful again.
