Motivation
“I can do this, you are one kick ass individual and deserve to gain greatness”.
Self-talk is a powerful strategy to overcome amotivation. Amp yourself up with affirmation, why not? If you can easily doubt yourself with negative talk it can be just as easy to speak positively. Of course the minor difference is believing the words of affirmation. In my opinion, it’s all about the repetition and consistently staying positive when speaking to yourself. People are probably disagreeing as they are reading this but I challenge them to try for one week, every 1-2 hours, just speak kindly about yourself in your head, or perhaps loudly in front of a mirror. “You can accomplish todays task”, “you are amazing”, “Let’s kill today’s workout, you got this!”. If you still don’t agree, well the only thing you’ve wasted was time you could of had talking negatively and self doubt.
People say confidence is key to success. Arguably its “a” key to success, let’s not forget that being confident leads to motivation. But if you’re someone like me who deals with anxiety and depression, we lack confidence. So, what can we do to help build confidence in ourselves to be successful? Well for starters accepting our flaws helps. Then determination. Being determine to work on our flaws and to better ourselves encourages us to make changes, which is supported well with diligence.
Yes it may even be hard to stay diligent but remembering “consistency over complacency” has always helped me at my lowest moments. The more I stay consistent with the things I need to do, the more confidence builds, the more I am inclined to accomplish what I have set my mind to do.
As the great Ronnie Coleman has said over and over time again “Ain’t nothing to it, but to do it”. Short positive quotes like Mr. Olympians is a very powerful tool that you can use to keep you on track and build the confidence you need to succeed. There will be times that you may not have companionship support, like a friend or family member cheering you on or dragging you out of bed to hit the gym. So search and save any positive quotes that work best for you. You owe it yourself feel great and confident by having an arsenal of positive and powerful quotes at your disposal. Let’s be honest, we spend so much time on our phones already. Start searching and browse the net for anything that gives you a spontaneous urge of motivation.
I guarantee you will thank yourself having them at your disposal.
Another great motivator is remembering why you started. You may not be someone that deals with anxiety and depression, that’s okay. Positive quotes still work. But remembering what got you started in the first place never fails to bring the motivation back. Is it to be a role model for your kids? Maybe simply to keep up with them. Lose a certain amount of weight, or simply to be in better health. What ever it may be, don’t forget it.
