4 Ways to fit the GYM into your busy life
1. Change at the end of your shift:
You’ve had a long day at work. Dealing with paperwork, clients, meetings, angry bosses, or even a certain work crisis. At the end of your shift, you may already be changing out of uniform, shoes, or whatever. Take that opportunity to change into a clean set of gym clothes, have a healthy snack, take your supplements (if you typically do) and make your way to the gym. Mentally, you are already shifting your work brain to the thought of relaxing or other responsibilities. So, why not interrupt the thought of sitting on the couch to fry your brain on your phone or TV screen. Save yourself 1-2 hours of binge watching or scrolling on social media. Utilize that time to drive to the gym and execute your workout. If you’re already changed for the gym as you walk out to your car from work, you’ve already started to prep your brain to focus on your workout.
2. Set time for yourself:
No matter our profession, we tend to do what needs to be done for clients, customers, or employers. You may be an assistant, clerk, driver, general labor worker, or sales rep of some sort. Regardless, we all tend to make time for someone else to keep them happy and satisfied. Do the same for yourself! You owe it to yourself to keep yourself healthy and happy! So, if you tend to block time or rearrange your schedule for someone else, pretend YOU are that someone else. You are your most important client or customer. If you aren’t keeping yourself healthy and happy, how will you manage to do the same in the long run?
3. Plan an alternate route:
Like most of us, we tend to choose convenience. But some may choose for certain reasons to work out somewhere a bit further from our homes. Regardless of which of the two you fit in, plan a different route. Be a little adventurous, go the scenic route, avoid traffic, what ever the reason it can help forget your busy day. Of course, this works more if you’ve set some time aside for yourself or if there isn’t a better route to avoid traffic. During this time, you can jam out, listen to a podcast, or sit in silence. Whatever floats your boat! This can help ease your mind and prep you to be motivated before arriving to the gym.
4. Have a Gym buddy or Fitness Coach:
Human beings tend to enjoy being by themselves and accomplishing tasks alone. But there are times that having someone else keep us accountable enables us to accomplish a lot more in life. You may share similar fitness goals as your best friend, colleagues, or co-workers. Challenge or motivate each other to stay consistent of your plans and execute them. Hiring a fitness coach wont be around as much as a workout partner or gym buddy, but they are paid to help keep you accountable and focused on the workout plans specifically made for you. It’s an investment, yes. Like any investment, you want to see a return. Investing into your health by hiring a coach will help motivate some to not slack off and make use of their own money.
Keeping up with your exercise isn’t just about looking good, it’s about staying healthy. Both physically and mentally.
